Performing magic tricks is a lot of fun. Everyone loves seeing a great magic trick. However, many of the magic tricks are too difficult for just anyone to learn. There are some tricks that are easier to do and are also entertaining. Here is a fun and easy coin trick that anyone can do that’s fun and will entertain people.

All that’s needed for this coin trick is ten pennies (or any coin will do) and a hat or paper bag. The coins need to all have a different date on them. They should be placed in the hat or paper bag. You will also need a group of people – at least 10 or so – to make this trick work. You will see why in a few seconds.

What you will do is give the coin or hat to one person in the group. Ask them to examine all the coins to make sure they have different dates. Once that is confirmed, ask that person to choose one coin out of the hat (or bag). Then have them pass the coin to every person in the group so they can all see the date. Once everyone has looked at the coin, then have them place that coin back in the hat (or bag) and take the hat back. Reach into the hat and pull out the coin that was chosen. They’ll be amazed that you chose the right one.

It’s not difficult to perform this trick. You aren’t required to do anything but to choose the coin that is the warmest. Remember the coin that was chosen was passed to every person in the group so that would make that coin warmer than all the rest. Yet no one will really figure that out. But to make the entire trick work you have to be sure that the coin has a chance to get warm. So make sure that it passes through plenty of hands and is handled by enough people. Otherwise this easy trick won’t work and it won’t be fun and it won’t impress anyone.

This really is a fun and easy coin trick. Yet it’s also very entertaining and will impress everyone who sees it. You just need to make sure that you have enough people in the group so that the coin will be warmed up from being handled. If you do then you can’t go wrong with this trick.

Can we really read the person’s mind? No but when you perform mind reading magic tricks, anything is possible so lets discuss some of them.

Some of the mind reading magic tricks:

Name of the dead

The first mind reading magic trick is called name of the dead. For this magic trick you will need a sheet of paper and three volunteers. You tear the paper into three pieces and tell two of the participants to write on each sheet the name of a person who is still alive.

The third person will be instructed to write the name of someone who has already passed on.

Take note that when you cut the paper into three pieces, the top and bottom will have only one rough edge while the one in the center will have rough edges on both sides. To make people believe you can read their minds, all you have to do is give the center piece to the one who will write the name of the person who is already dead.

To make people believe that you can do this, you tell them to drop the three pieces of paper into a hat, which is resting on the table or rose above your head. You then put your hand in the hat and simply feel the paper which has the rough edge and then take it out.

To build the suspense, put that piece of paper on your forehead to make them think you are sure about the sheet of paper you picked. You then give this paper to the one who wrote on the paper that has the rough edges.

Famous names

The next mind reading magic trick is called famous names. For this, you will need to get 10 famous names from the audience and then write these down on a separate card. They are mixed and then you make a prediction of the name written on the card which will be checked by someone from the audience.

For this magic trick to work, you will need ten small cards or ten small sheets of paper. The 10 famous names should come from the audience so once they give out a name, write it down and then do the same for the rest.

What the audience does not know is that the first famous name written will also be written on the rest. You then put these into the hat and shake it. You now ask a volunteer from the audience to reach into the hat and give you the paper.

You put this on your head to create a dramatic effect and then say the name of the famous person aloud, which will be confirmed by the volunteer. So no one will discover what you did, make sure to get rid of the slips.

The two minding reading magic tricks mentioned are really simple to do and anyone can do them. This just proves that magicians who perform this magic trick don’t really have the talent but rather pull a fast one to make people believe that they have this gift.

If you want to learn other mind reading magic tricks, do some research and then practice this a little then do it with a few friends. At the end of the magic trick, some people might really believe you have this gift, which is funny, especially if they knew how you were able to do it.

Magic Tricks have fascinated people since early times. The Professional Magician has been with us since man learned to speak. If you can talk, you can make things seem other than they really are – and that is the essence of illusion.

Why the fascination? Why do we enjoy being fooled? We KNOW that the card didn’t really vanish into thin air – and yet … Have you ever witnessed unexplainable events or seen illusions so convincing that they leave you spellbound? Have you ever seen what happens to a group of people who experience magic up close? A high energy excitement develops that’s contagious. There’s amazement, laughter, a great buzz enjoyed by all those who witnessed the seemingly ‘unexplainable’.

We actually WANT there to be magic! We want to believe that someone can make things appear or disappear just by power of thought or by saying a magic word.

Nowadays we rarely see the ‘smoke and mirrors’ that the ancient magicians were reputed to use.

Illusions are much more sophisticated; they use few gadgets to work their deceit, most is effected by misdirection – making the audience look at one thing while something else is going on somewhere else.

The Magician or Illusionist makes a big flourish with one hand while the other secretly picks an object out of – or drops an object into – his pocket. Whenever a performer asks you to concentrate on something you may be sure that the trick is actually being done where you are not concentrating. The magician’s ‘patter’ is designed partly to entertain and partly to distract.

Magic as a hobby is very satisfying. You don’t have to be a David Blaine. You can delight and amaze people if you perform reasonably well, and this could soon lead to your hobby paying for itself and perhaps providing a part time or even full time income. Whilst a Stage Magician needs expensive props, the hobby or amateur Magician can perform tricks with his audience up close – even surrounding him or her, for some tricks – and often uses borrowed objects. These can be the most amazing tricks – very satisfying to perform – and will build the performer a magical reputation quickly.
